Happy first day of Spring! My favorite season is officially here, which means summer is right around the corner! I don’t know about you, but I have a love/hate relationship with Spring. If you suffer from allergies…you feel me…but I love the feeling of renewal it brings. During this season we are given the opportunity to start fresh. We are shedding our winter coats, exposing our skin to sunlight, and dreaming of what the year has to offer. So I think it’s the perfect time to start some healthy habits!
I receive lots of emails. But my favorite email comes very Thursday from the Toneitup.com (members only) newsletter! As a member you receive weekly newsletters with GREAT behind-the-scenes info that I LOVE! This week we received an email talking about 5 Spring-time healthy habits to start right now! As I was reading them, I knew I had to share…yes people, I am sharing (members only) information with all of YOU! They are truly too good not to share…I love the Toneitup.com community and how they help empower women to feel their best by leading a happy and healthy lifestyle! Here is just a small glimpse of the kind of encouragement they offer on a regular basis…enjoy.
“Get rid of what no longer serves you.
From old clothes and furniture to limiting beliefs and negative thought patterns, this is your chance to let go of anything that doesn’t inspire you. This helps you make room for all of the great things coming your way in both a physical and emotional way!
Unplug one hour before bed.
Taking care of yourself means allowing your mind and body to relax at bedtime. We know unplugging can be challenging, but it’s so worth it. Plus, it’s just for an hour! Put down your phone, turn off the TV and shut down your computer before bedtime.
Instead, get ready for a restful night by journaling about your day, dabbing a little lavender essential oil on your wrist, visualizing yourself achieving your goals or taking a bubble bath.
Be BOLD!
Spring is no time to be a shrinking violet ;) Wear bright colors, speak your mind and don’t shy away from going after exactly what you want ~ whether it’s running a race, taking an art class or visiting a new city!
Tend an herb garden.
Satisfy your cravings for bright flavors while you cultivate a green thumb by starting your own herb garden. Fresh herbs add an incomparable burst of flavor to just about anything! Simply purchase the plants ~ a good starting point is basil, rosemary & mint ~ pot them and place in a bright spot in your kitchen. As a bonus, they’ll add a fresh look and a wonderful aroma.
Beat stress!
Adopt the habit of breathing deeply whenever and wherever you’re stressed out! For some ultra effective stress relief, complete what we call 5-5-5 breaths: Inhale for the count of five, hold for five and slowly exhale for five. Repeat this 5-10 times whenever you need it! This breathing exercise is wonderful while driving, at work or school, and even before bed.“
